Two persons were arrested in Manipur with a huge quantity of brown sugar, worth over Rs 7.59 crore in the international market, on April 2.

A team of Tengnoupal district police arrested the two persons after 3.775 kg of brown sugar packed in 92 soap cases were recovered from a car they were travelling in from Moreh side on April 2, around 8 am, police said.

The seized drugs would be worth over Rs 7.59 in the international market, police also said.

Police identified the arrested persons as one Letkhogin and Ngamkhohao.

Police then said that personnel of the Tengnoupal district police on frisking and checking duty at a check post along Imphal-Moreh section of NH-102 detected the car carrying the contraband drugs upon suspicion.

After registering a case against the two persons under NDPS Act, the Tengnoupal police has initiated an investigation.
