Assam Police detained a couple from “Africa” at Tripura-Assam border from a Guwahati-bound passenger bus. Allegedly, the duo entered Tripura illegally from Bangladesh without valid documents.

North Tripura Police said during routine checks in the bus at the border on November 13 they were found travelling without passport.

A 40-year-old male, a resident of Senegal, was found to have expired the validity of his passport about six months ago while his 25-year-old companion, from Kenya, was having a passport but did not use it to enter Tripura from Bangladesh.

During interrogation the accused persons confessed that they entered India via Tripura through an informal route and they had been on the way to Delhi.
