Two persons were killed and around 40 others were injured after a Jorhat-bound day-service luxury bus collided head-on with an oil tanker near Kaliabor in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday.

The incident took place on National Highway 37 (New NH 715) at Kanchanjuri area near Kaliabor, where a bus with 40 passengers on-board collided with an oil tanker coming from opposite direction.

According to reports, the passenger bus was moving towards Jorhat from Guwahati.

Two passengers of the bus died on spot while 40 others were injured.

Locals and police rescued the injured persons and admitted them to Kaliabor and Nagaon civil hospital.
