A United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) cadre has been arrested in Guwahati ahead of the upcoming India-Sri Lanka cricket match and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
The Guwahati Police nabbed the ULFA-I cadre near Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati and recovered a mobile phone and some ‘incriminating documents’ from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Bitupan Sonowal, who hails from Kawoimari village of Dibrugarh district’s Namrup.
According to reports, Bitupan, along with three other ULFA-I cadres, was planning to carry out blasts during the cricket match and PM Modi’s visit.
