Anti-government slogans were raised from the stands during the India-Sri Lanka T20 international match at ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati on January 5.

Although heavy security arrangements were made, the spectators shouted anti-government slogans when the giant screen showed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura CM Biplab Deb and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah among others were present during the match.

During the break of the abandoned match, when the giant screen displayed the visuals of CM Sonowal and other VIPs, a section of the crowd started shouted ‘Sarbananda Sonowal go-back, Himanta Biswa go-back’.

Some of the spectators, even shouted ‘Ho Ho…’ while coming out of the stadium which is the trademark ‘battle cry’ of All Assam Students Union (AASU).
