Tezpur club – The News Mill

A winter cloths donation drive was carried out by Rotaract Club of Agnigarh in Tezpur to help the needy in the coming chill season.

The donation drive, on December 1, witnessed many people helping the poor and needy with warm cloths.

The club, based at Agnigarh in Tezpur, decided to help the people who could not meet the basic requirements of life. The club got good support from the people living in Tezpur. The club members appealed to the public to donate their cloths, drawing good response from the people.

“For me, this is the joy of helping poor people. This service is rendered on humanitarian considerations and without any motive of profit. We are thankful to the people who thought for the society rather than just their personal interests, and came forward to help the initiative,” said Saurav Uprety, president of Rotaract Club of Agnigarh.

Project chairman, Abishrata Saikia of the Rotaract Club of Agnigarh, said that the simple effort will bring warmth to the people who could not otherwise meet their basic minimum requirements. “During this campaign, I realized how privileged we are, and how someone would be praying for even a piece of cloth. We are happy that with our simple effort, we could bring warmth to the lives of those who are not privileged enough. As our club stands for small acts with greater impact, we tried asking minimum effort from people to bring out maximum ends for them.”

Treasurer of the club, Sibu Sanjel, added: “Firstly I’m happy that there are many people who want to help the poor and needy. Without the support of our donors, the campaign was impossible.”
