Guwahati-based Asian Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT) organised a street play on the college campus of Gauhati Commerce College on September 28. The motive of the street play was to give a social message for freedom and empowerment of women, especially spreading awareness among the youth.

Students from the mass communication department of the college performed the play which showcased the story of an independent working girl who falls prey to three drunk guys and gets molested while returning home late from office. The society, including her father and friends, mocks and blames the survivor for her misfortune, instead of punishing those who committed the heinous crime.

The protagonist in the play seeing the inhuman attitude of society, towards her pain, decides to commit suicide. However, she finally realises that a lot of women go through these kinds of sexual violence, who stay silent due to fear and humiliation from society.

The protagonist in the play decides to become the Voice of all those women, whose voices have became “Unheard Voices’’ and fights back against the injustice inflict to her.
