Till date, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 has held the record of being the top money spinner in the Northeast with a whopping collection figure of over Rs 5.1 crore.

Zubeen Garg, one of the producers of the film, announced it on social media: “Kanchanjangha has broken Baahubali 2 record today and has become the highest grosser of all time in the Northeast till date.”

Zubeen- starrer Assamese film Kanchanjangha was released on September 6 and it has been running in the theatres since the last four weeks.

Garima Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg and co-producer of the film, said: “It gives me immense pleasure to declare that Kanchanjangha has broken the record of Baahubali 2. We are thankful to all the Assamese audience for the love and support in abundance and for the all the constructive feedbacks and reviews.”

The Kanchanjangha team, especially Zubeen Garg himself, did marathon publicity by visiting a number of colleges and universities across the state and interacted with the students. “After the success of Mission China, we have done same kind of mass publicity for the promotion of

Kanchanjangha. We have travelled the every nook and corner of the state, especially the educational institutions for the publicity,” Garima said.

Kanchanjangha was released across 69 theatres across Northeast. The film was also screened in the other parts of the country, including Hyderabad, Gujarat, Cochin, Chennai etc.

Kanchanjangha was Zubeen Garg’s third directorial venture after Tumi Mur Mathu Mur and Mission China. His last movie, Mission China, too was commercially successful and was the highest grosser in the history of Assamese film industry.
