Assam Police has registered a case related to the July 26 killing of police personnel along the Assam-Mizoram border at Lailapur in Cachar district, a press statement said on July 28.

In a press release, the Assam Police said that it registered a case at Dholai PS on July 27 under various sections of IPC along with Arms Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984.

​“A police team, including officers of the CID, are leaving for Delhi to take lawful action relating to the conspiracy behind the incident in light of a media interview by Rajya Sabha MP, Shri K Vanlalvena indicative of his active role in the conspiracy,” the statement further added.

​Assam Police has already prepared a photo gallery, which is being further updated, of Mizoram Police personnel and civilian miscreants who fired at Assam Police. “They would be brought to law,” the statement said.

​They also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the arrest of each of the individuals involved in the killing of the police personnel on July 26.
