Two LeT militants were killed in a confrontation with security troops in Srinagar’s Zakura neighbourhood on February 5, officials said.

“Srinagar Police have killed two terrorists from the LeT/TRF terror group. Ikhlaq Hajam, one of the terrorists killed, was implicated in the recent assassination of HC Ali Mohd in Hassanpora, Anantnag. Incriminating evidence was discovered, including two handguns,” inspector general police Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar was quoted as saying by J&K Police in a tweet.

On the basis of specific information regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint team of police and security services cordoned off the area and commenced a search operation.

As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the gunfight.
