With an aim to regulate traffic movement amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, the West Siang district administration in Arunachal Pradesh has announced to introduce odd-even rule for vehicles.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi in Aalo, the district headquarters of West Siang.
During the meeting, it was decided that vehicle bearing even number will ply on even days and odd on odd days to regulate crowd movements in Aalo town.
Government vehicles, however, will be exempted from the purview of the order on road and offices only, but not in market places.
The administration and police will strictly implement the order after wide publicity and circulation, the DC directed.
“There is no room for any complacency on relaxation in this pandemic situation when two positive cases were detected from people coming into the state from outside and disease is multiplying alarmingly on daily basis in our neighbour state,” a release quoted the official as saying during May 28’s meeting.
A district COVID Control room will be set up soon for dissemination of information, the DC informed.
Arunachal Pradesh recorded three COVID-19 positive case so far with two active cases and one cured.
