The number of fresh COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh is rapidly increasing in the last few days, a senior health official said on July 7.

According to State Surveillance Officer (SSO), Dr Lobsang Jampa, Arunachal Pradesh, which remained COVID-free for a couple of months, has seen a rise in the number of new infections beginning July 1.

On July 8, the state reported 43 fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the overall tally to 64,623. The number of active cases in the state climbed to 101.

According to the official, 18 new cases were reported from the Capital Complex region, 17 new cases came from the Lohit region, four new cases from Namsai, three new cases from Lower Dibang Valley, and one from East Siang.

According to him, 15 of the 18 newly reported cases in the Capital Complex Region include members of the NDRF who have just returned from Silchar in Assam, which was devastated by floods.
