Assam governor congratulates Sahitya Akademi awardees from the state

Assam governor Banwarilal Purohit congratulated litterateurs Horendra Nath Borthakur and Renu Boro on being conferred with Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar-2017; and Pratim Baruah and Bijit Gwra Ramchiary for bagging Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for the year 2017.

In a statement on Friday, Purohit said that Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar to Horendra Nath Borthakur and Renu Boro (posthumously) for their total contribution to children’s literature in Assamese and Bodo language respectively ‘is an honour’ to the people of Assam.

The governor further said that Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar to Pratim Baruah and Bijit Gwra Ramchiary for their contribution towards enrichment of poetry in Assamese and Bodo language is indeed a matter of pride and prestige. Their achievements in their respective fields will definitely be a source of encouragement to the breed of young writers writing for different genres for total promotion of intellectual and literary fields in the state of Assam and elsewhere.
