The Assam government, with effect from July 1, merged the directorate of madrassa education with the directorate of secondary education.

The merger came into effect without any change in the nomenclature of the existing directorate of secondary education and its attached offices. With this, all the offices and staff of the directorate of madrassa education shall automatically be under the administrative control of the directorate of secondary education.

“Consequent upon the merger, the subjects dealt with by the directorate of madrassa education is allocated in favour of the directorate of secondary education with immediate effect,” a government note said.

The directorate of secondary education will continue to be under the administrative control of the education secondary department.
