The Assam government will soon issue a notification to make the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 effective in the state.
State Transport Commissioner Virendra Mittal said in line with the Centre, the state government will soon issue a notification to make the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 effective in Assam as well. He added that the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 revolves around three categories – users, vehicles and infrastructure.
Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has welcomed the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. In a statement on September 3, the minister said, “I hope the new traffic rules will help to regulate the road safety measures in the state in a more effective manner. The new amendment act places the safety of a person on the road above all.”
“A country which excels in road safety has a good legislation to it. I hope the new legislation will help to reduce the human fatalities and injuries to fulfil our vision to make the state’s roads safe for its commuters and travellers,” he added.
