As many as 26 patients were detected COVID-19 positive in Guwahati on May 22 evening. The cases were reported from Sarusajai quarantine centre.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that this is the biggest one-time spike in number of COVID-19 cases in Assam.

“In the biggest one-time spike in cases, 26 cases are confirmed #COVID19 +. They are all from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre,” he tweeted.

With these cases, the number of active cases in the state moved to 195. As many as 54 patients recovered and were released from the hospitals in the state while 4 died of the disease. Three patients migrated to other states.
