By-elections to Khonsa West Assembly seat in Arunachal Pradesh will be held on October 21 and counting on October 24. The bypoll was necessitated after National People’s Party (NPP) nominee Tirong Aboh, who was killed in an ambush on May 21, two days before the announcement of 2019 Arunachal Pradesh Assembly results, got re-elected from the seat.

As per the poll panel schedule, the notification for the Khonsa West seat will be issued on September 23. The last date of filing nomination will be September 30, scrutiny of nomination papers October 1 and last date of withdrawal of candidature October 3.

With the announcement of by-elections, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into effect to the whole of Tirap district and shall be effective till completion of the polls, a statement from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer said.

As per the electoral roll, the total number of electors in Khonsa West seat is 10185 which includes 4959 male and 5226 female. Twenty three polling stations are there in this Assembly seat.
