COVID-19 pandemic: Assam govt offers Rs 50 lakh insurance for journalists

The Assam government on April 27 announced insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh for journalists covering the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the insurance will cover all journalists of the state covering the COVID-19 outbreak.

Earlier, the state government had announced similar insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh for health, police and other frontline people engaged in COVID-19 outbreak.

Various journalists association, including the Guwahati Press Club, welcomed the initiative taken by the Assam government.
