Way to Raj Bhawan in Guwahati on July 4

The Raj Bhawan in Guwahati was declared a COVID-19 containment zone on July 4 after two employees of the Assam governor house were tested positive for the disease.

The entire Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the state’s governor, has been declared a containment zone, with Governor Jagdish Mukhi and his wife, among others, confined within the premise.

The entire compound, which is located on top of a hillock, has been sanitized following the detection.

On July 4, an additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and district information and public relations officer, among others, have also tested positive, leading to apprehension of more cases in the deputy commissioner’s establishment.

Several more police personnel in Guwahati have also tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, several relaxations have been allowed in the total lockdown currently in place in Kamrup (Metro) district, which includes Guwahati.

The 14-day lockdown in the district had started on June 29 and the relaxations would be effective for the week from July 5 to July 12, with strict observance of COVID-19 protocols.
