Security forces seized drugs worth about Rs 89.40 lakh from Manipur border area on December 22.

Tengnoupal Battalion foiled cross border narcotics trafficking at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district and recovered 447 grams of suspected brown sugar concealed in pillows from a van, officials said.

An Assam Rifles official said the seized narcotics was assessed to be worth Rs 89.40 lakh.

The recovered items along with the driver and the vehicle were handed over to Moreh police station for further legal action.

War -like materials recovered in Manipur

Moreh Battalion recovered huge quantity of war-like stores near Chikkim Veng village in Moreh on December 21.

During border patrol, troops of Assam Rifles observed suspicious packets in a vehicle with “markings in Chinese language”. On further enquiry, the driver of the vehicle revealed that the consignment was collected from a hotel in Moreh and was scheduled to be transported to Churachandpur, Assam Rifles official said.

Troops of Assam Rifles immediately raided the hotel and recovered huge quantities of war-like stores such as picatinny rails, mounting platform for firearms accessories, military attire and accessories and one high pressure pneumatic pump.

The recovered items were handed over to Moreh police station for further legal action.
