According to Cooch Behar Police, the incident occurred yesterday around 5:30 pm during a routine check at Raidak Bridge on National Highway 31. The police stopped and inspected a white-coloured car carrying five individuals from Assam, prompted by contradictory statements from the vehicle’s occupants and suspicious behaviour.

Upon searching the vehicle, a substantial amount of cash was discovered concealed inside a bag in the trunk. The seized cash totalled approximately Rs 12 lakh, and all five individuals were taken into custody.

The Income Tax department has been notified about the cash seizure, as confirmed by the police official. Further details regarding the incident are currently pending.
