Itanagar Capital Complex Police on August 12 launched the first women police control room (PCR) van for women’s safety in the state capital. It will also help women in distress to approach the police easily, officials said.

The women PCR vehicle was flagged off by Itanagar Capital Complex superintendent of police Jimmy Chiram in a brief programme at the SP office in Itanagar in presence of the officers and police personnel.

Earlier, the SP highlighted the importance of the emergency response support system (ERSS) in providing swift assistance to the people in distress and crime control. He also emphasized on the importance and role of women PCR in controlling crime against women.

He encouraged all the PCRs to work with zeal and discipline for the safety and security of the public. The SP also highlighted some of the good works done by PCRs deployed in Itanagar Capital Complex.

The women PCR van, to be operated by two policewomen and a male cop, will be stationed at Zero Point near PCCF office in Itanagar. The personnel have already been imparted special training on first aid and refresher course on communication skills, the SP said.

Itanagar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Kamdam Sikom also spoke and emphasized on maintaining strict discipline and work as a ‘team PCR’.
