Four die of asphyxiation inside well in Arunachal

Four people died of asphyxiation inside a well in a village in Arunachal Pradesh on June 9.

Capital SP Tumme Amo said, “One Mani Kumar Deori, who was called by Techi Galo at around 10 am to clean his well at Duprang 1 village, Chessa under Banderdewa circle, fainted while cleaning the well due to insufficient oxygen. In attempt to save Deori, Galo’s brother, Techi Kojum went inside the well and he also fainted.”

The police official further said then one Ajay Chakma went inside the well to rescue them with the help of a rope but he also fainted and could not come out.
After Chakma did not respond, his father Sukroraju Chakma also went down with the help of a rope and he also fainted, he said.

The police official said that by 3 pm two bodies were recovered with the help of Assam SDRF, police personnel of Narayanpur PS, police personnel of Chessa out post and locals.

“Efforts are being made to retrieve the remaining other two bodies. It is suspected that the series of deaths occurred due to insufficient oxygen inside the well,” he added.

The SP said that an unnatural death case was registered at Banderdewa PS for further legal actions.
