Security forces busted a ‘war-like’ store in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
According to reports, based on intelligence input about a weapon hideout, a combined team of 38 Assam Rifles and Kangpokpi district police had launched search operation from July 6 evening in the jungle area located about 5 km away from eastern side of Haijang village.
The team recovered large numbers of arms and ammunition during the two-day operation.
Security personnel had recovered one AK-47 rifle with two magazines, one MA-1 assault rifle with a magazine, three M-16 rifle magazines, one lathode rifle, four country made pistols with four magazines, four radio sets with charger, one UBGL grenade, one morter projectile, 70 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, three rounds of 0.22 mm ammunition, 16 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, one pistol holster and other war-like stores from the jungle area.
A top official of Kangpokpi district in Manipur said that, suspected militants had kept hide the recovered arms-ammunition in the jungle area.
An FIR under various sections of IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
