Itanagar-based journalist Mintu Tamuli is no more. The 32-year-old journalist, who hailed from New Rowmari in Assam, died on July 1 following a cardiac arrest.

Tamuli, who was associated with several media organizations, had worked with Arunbhoomi, News18, Prime Time, etc.

Expressing shock at the demise of the young journalist, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu tweeted: “Deeply shocked to hear the tragic news of sudden demise of Shri Mintu Tamuli Ji, a young promising journalist from Arunachal. My heartfelt condolences and prayers for comfort to his family during this difficult period. May the soul of departed attain Moksha. Om Shanti.”

Union minister Kiren Rijiju also condoled the demise of Tamuli.

“I’m deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Mintu Tamuli, a young reporter of Arunbhoomi, a local Hindi daily of Arunachal Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace,” Rijiju tweeted.

Originally hailing from in New Rowmari in Assam, Tamuli was born in Arunachal Pradesh and raised in various parts of the state.

The state media fraternity said that it has lost a true son of the soil in heart and spirit.

“Shocked and saddened to announce our comrade Mintu Tamuli, a reporter with Arunbhoomi, local Hindi daily is no more. He has passed away just an hour ago due to cardiac arrest,” Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) said.

“Shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of comrade Mintu Tamuli this evening due to cardiac arrest. He was a passionate reporter with a gentle disposition. In April, we lost a young, promising journalist #JasonKhangthing and now him. What a sad year for Arunachal media,” Eastern Sentinel managing editor Kenter Joya Riba tweeted.
