Kamakhya temple to remain closed till June 30; no gathering during Ambubachi
Although the government has relaxed lockdown norms and allowed the places of worship to be operational amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Kamakhya temple authorities decided not to open the temple premises for the devotees till June 30.
Priests at the famed temple atop Nilachal hills in Guwahati, said that keeping in mind of the COVID-19 crisis, they have decided that the current lockdown norms will continue for the temple till June 30.
“Ambubachi Mela is one of the occasions where lakhs of people gather from all across the globe. To avoid the gathering during the Mela, we will continue to observe the lockdown, seeing the current situation of COVID-19 crisis. So, we decided to close the door for the devotees till June 30,” said one of the main priests.
