I-League champions Aizawl FC appoints a new coach

I-League champions Aizawl FC announced Portuguese Paulo Menezes as their new head coach for the 2017-18 season.

The 39-year-old coach is experienced in working with different teams in Panama, Laos, Spain and various clubs in his homeland Portugal. He also had worked for planning and analysis in the Spain national team.

The defending champions had been without a head coach after Khalid Jamil signed for East Bengal.

“The Portuguese coach is a UEFA Pro License (Spanish Level 3 coaching license) holder. He also has a University degree on sports science training methodology and football high performance and physical education. Aizawl FC is delighted to sign a smart and highly profiled coach with great tactical skills. We wish his knowledge and experiences will lead us high in the upcoming season. Welcome Coach Paul to the People’s Club,” a statement by the defending champions said.
