The Kamrup district administration in Assam has roped in popular ‘actor’ Rajkumar Thakuriya, better known as ‘Raku Da’ or Mr Rajkumar, as the brand ambassador for SVEEP activities for the upcoming assembly elections.

Popular ‘simpool dryvaar’, Raku Da will appeal people to come out and vote during the Assam assembly elections as part of the initiative taken by the Kamrup district administration.

Legislative assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Assam in mid-April.

“Moi ajon simple voter, hobo ulaisu brand ambassador (I am a simple voter, will be a brand ambassador),” said a statement from Mr Rajkumar.

Mr Rajkumar is a ‘film actor’, ‘singer’, ‘music director’, ‘lyricist’, ‘producer’ and ‘director’ – all by himself – known for his immensely popular works predominantly in Assamese cinema.

An inhabitant of Mirza in Kamrup district of Assam, Mr Rajkumar has numerous followers and fans on the social media platforms.

He recently claimed that popular YouTuber CarryMinati (aka Ajey Nagar) gained more than 1 crore views on YouTube by roasting his work.

“Mor movie-geet xomalosona kori CARRYMINOTIe viewers kiman paise janane? 11,660,099 views (Do you know how many views CarryMinati got by roasting my movies-songs?),” Mr Rajkumar had posted on Facebook.

Among his popular songs include: ‘You are a doctor…I am a simpool dryvaar’, ‘Chal Chal Chal Arunachal’, ‘Diwani Tu Diwani’ etc.
