Meghalaya minister Sanbor Shullai

Meghalaya BJP leader and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai on June 2 held Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala responsible for the downfall of the Congress in the Northeast state.

Shullai, who is representing the South Shillong constituency, reminded Pala that if he is pointing one finger at others, there are three fingers pointing back at him. He was reacting to Pala’s allegation that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government is totally a “divided house”.

The BJP leader accused the Shillong MP of bringing a sword from Delhi quietly which had led to the 12 MLAs merging with the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

“You (Pala) have brought the sword without consulting with your MLAs, MDCs, and your party functionaries. Quietly you brought the sword from Delhi, the sword in the form of an appointment as the president (of the MPCC),” he said while adding that this had led to Congress MLAs to leave the party and merge with the AITC.

“Therefore, he has to think first about himself before he starts criticizing others,” Shullai added.
