Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal still enjoys a strong approval rating as the state goes to polls, according to a recent survey.

IANS-CVoter survey said that Sonowal is “very popular” with 43.3 per cent people casting their vote in his favour as the next chief minister of Assam.

The survey said that Sonowal is followed by Congress leader and member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi who was opted for by 26.4 per cent people.

The survey said that three incumbent chief ministers – Mamata Banerjee, Sarbananda Sonowal and Pinarayi Vijayan – enjoy strong approval ratings as their respective states go to the polls.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is much ahead of the pack with more than half or 54.5 per cent respondents in the IANS C Voter opinion poll wave 2 saying she is the most suitable candidate for CM. Dilip Ghosh, state BJP president comes second with 24.6 per cent of the vote.
