A seminar on implementation of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes act in Assam was held in Guwahati on July 1. The seminar was organised by the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Assam under the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes.
Abhayapuri South (SC) MLA Ananta Kumar Malo attended as the chief guest of the programme. In his speech Malo said that more work needs be done for overall development and welfare of the schedule caste and tribes and appealed to the departments to implement new schemes for their overall growth.
The seminar was attended by Commissioner of Police Hiren Nath, secretary at home and political department KC Sarma, secretary at WPT & BC department Binita Pegu and other officials. The inaugural programme was followed by technical sessions.
