The Guwahati City FC partnered with one of the top I-League clubs Shillong Lajong FC to organize a 10-day football coaching camp. The camp, organized at the Gauhati University playground from July 15 will be technically assisted the Shillong Lajong FC.

“Lajong will provide the technical assistance like coaching and other support, to the youths who will join the camp,” confirmed managing director at Shillong Lajong FC Larsing Ming Sawyan. The development took place following a meeting held between the Shillong Lajong MD and GCFC management at ‘The Guwahati Address’ hotel in Guwahati recently.

Besides, the chance to train in the ‘Lajong Way’, the trainees will get an opportunity of an exposure trip to Shillong for interaction with the Lajong players and its academy.

A communication from Guwahati City FC said that the event is supported by Decathlon and GupShup 94.3 FM among others.

The camp will be conducted in three categories – Under 12, Under 16 and Under 22 age groups. “The camp will be free for BPL students and also for those who join it from orphanage home from anyplace of the region,” said Kaustab Chakraborty, director at GCFC.

The camp will also provide special tips on diet and other technical aspects. Aspiring students from schools, colleges and universities can take part in this camp, where experienced coaches will train and motivate young players. Along with training, students will be advised on football ethics, fair play, proper diet, fitness and football career by experienced resource persons. Several noted football personalities from Assam as well as from other states of the region will be present on the last day of the camp for an exhibition match.
