A 10-day football coaching camp is being organized at the Gauhati University ground from July 15 with an aim to popularise the game among school students and youth.

The coaching camp is organized by upcoming football club Guwahati City FC (GCFC), with assistance from a top I-League team. The camp will start from July 15 to July 26 at Gauhati University ground, stated a note shared by GCFC director Kaustab Chakrabarty.

“Aspiring students from schools, colleges and universities can take part in this camp, where experienced coaches will train and motivate young players. Along with training, students will be advised on football ethics, fair play, proper diet, fitness and football career by experienced resource persons,” the statement further said.

Several noted football personalities from the Northeast region will be present on the last day of the camp for an exhibition match.

Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg on Friday announced that he will be a part of the camp. “Hi friends, I’m coming up with this club to promote football in Assam and Northeast. Need your blessings and support and love,” Zubeen posted on his official Facebook page.

In a statement, the club appealed to the aspiring students to contact GCFC director Kaustab Chakrabarty (mobile: 9706570219) for further details on the camp. Registration forms for the summer football camp can obtained from 11th Avenue Café Bistro in Dighalipukhuri, JB’s in Christian Basti, Phat Town in Six Mile and Street Za in Chandmari.
