People of Manipur blocked roads, restricted people from entering other neighbourhood as fear of outbreak of Covid 19 looms large.

The state has one positive case and is recovering well. The 23- year old girl studying in the UK, who returned on March 21, was found to be Covid 19 positive on March 24 last. Manipur government has imposed curfew in the state until further orders.

Th Bhimo, Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), said the woman has now started taking solid food and a test will be conducted to see if she is still Covid 19 positive. All those with whom she had come into contact, specially her family members, were tested and found to be negative.

All those who came back to Imphal with her in a particular flight have started coming to hospital for check up.

As curfew has been promulgated in the entire state, people could not read newspapers for the second day today. The hawkers have refused to carry newspapers fearing spread of the disease.

All streets were deserted and people were voluntarily not moving out. Police also went around the streets to ensure that no one came out. Pharmacies were, however, open and the government has appealed to people not to put up barricades on the streets as movement of health officials were affected.

Meanwhile, people lauded the police personnel for helping people in carrying essential items. A police officer helped a rickshaw puller by driving the rickshaw himself and delivering the items at a locality.
