Tripura government is planning to resume classes in the schools from second week of June if COVID-19 situation does not aggravate further.
Schools are being readied as full sanitization of the classrooms were being done and provision of running water and hand wash for the students were also being looked into.
Education minister Ratan Lal Nath on May 24 said an amount of Rs 250 for gloves and masks for over 11,000 cook-cum helpers for mid-day meals were sanctioned and credited to the account of each school and also a sum of Rs 1500 has been allotted for schools with 50 students, Rs 2500 for 51 to 150 students, Rs 3500 for 151-200 students and Rs 5000 for schools having above 250 students.
About 2,553 schools do not have running water facilities, but has source for water and department would arrange two water storage tanks of 250 litres capacity and Rs 6000 additional fund would be spent for hand wash, cleaning and other necessary arrangement to fight COVID-19.
The education department would spend Rs 1.53 crore from reserve fund.
