Tripura starts telemedicine facility to manage COVID-19 situation

Aiming to reduce the pressure at the state referral and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), Tripura health department has introduced telemedicine and treatment service for patients of different parts of the state from August 17 onwards on a fixed weekly schedule.

As per the decision, the doctors of General Medicine and Paediatrics would provide consultation service from 9:30 am to12:30 pm from Monday to Saturday followed by Obstetrics and Gynaecologist between 1 pm and 4pm from AGMC.

Patients will have to register online to avail the telemedicine service.

Many patients from periphery hospitals were being sent to AGMC on a regular basis. Due to COVID-19 situation, it has become difficult to handle such a large crowd with skeleton staff, said health officials adding that telemedicine service will help both the patients and doctors.
