The country’s biggest football extravaganza is set to take place in Guwahati with the Hero Indian Super League 2016 poised to commence on October 1.
In recognition of the Northeast region’s passion for the beautiful game of football, Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati readies to host the spectacular opening ceremony of the much anticipated third season of the Hero Indian Super League.

Gates to Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium will open at 3 pm allowing the fans to arrive early and grab their seats for the grand opening ceremony and avoid rush-hour traffic. Tickets for the opener are already sold-out. The opening ceremony will kick off at 5.30 pm.
The opening ceremony promises glitz and glamour with Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandes and Varun Dhawan geared to set the stage alight with performances on some of their most popular tracks in the presence of Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson, Football Sports Development Ltd along with other dignitaries. Close to 500 performers and artists will take part in the fanfare of the opening ceremony.
Enthusiastic fans across the country following ISL through their television screens at home can catch the opening ceremony on the Star Sports network and Hot Star (deferred live) from 6.15 pm.
The first match of Hero ISL between home side NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC will kick-off at 7 pm. The two teams missed out on qualification to the semi finals of the league and they will be looking to go that extra mile this year. This promises to be a cracker of a season with a potentially explosive opening fixture.
