Ahead of the assembly elections in the five states, a Singapore-based Manipur youth has started a mission to guide the voters to choose their right candidates.

Monish Karam, who won USD 40,000 from Facebook last year to develop the mobile app Jobsenz, has prepared detailed profiles – including their promises and failures – of political leaders who will contest in the coming assembly elections.

Profiles of top leaders of these states will be uploaded for the voters to assess their candidates. The resumes will include the candidates’ educational qualifications, work experiences and their promises – including those which were not kept.

“As everyone need to appear in an interview with their resume and accordingly the candidates are judged if they are fit for a certain work or not, the elections are also one of the biggest tests for the politicians. So, it’s very important for the voters to know the details about their works,” Karam, who was born and brought up in Imphal before moving to Singapore, said.

So far, the detailed profiles of Okram Ibobi Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal have been prepared among others. The profile of human rights activist Irom Sharmila, who formed a new political party, People’s Resurgence Justice Alliance (PRJA), has also been prepared.

“Gradually, we will cover more politicians. Now, it’s up to the voters to evaluate their candidates,” Karam added.

Facebook offered financial assistance to Karam to build, grow, and monetize the mobile app – Jobsenz under Facebook’s worldwide program — FBstart initiative.
