Guwahati Round Table 235, under Round Table India, announced yet another fundraising event to help build the next phase of Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan in Dadara, near Hajo. The Table will be hosting a TSD car rally in Guwahati on February 19.

The group adopted the school under its ‘Freedom Through Education’ project in February last year and has completed two phases of construction – the first phase inaugurated by Assam education minister in August 2016.

The car rally, ‘driFTErs’, will be a fun-filled yet competitive event based on the TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) car rally model, which is one of the most entertaining rallies for motor sport enthusiasts. With the first prize of Rs 51,000 and total cash prizes worth Rs 1.35 lakhs, driFTErs car rally is set to grab a lot of eyeballs. Remember, there will cash incentives for participation in the rally.

North East Motorsports Association (NEMA) will take care of the technical aspects of the rally. The rally has been approved by the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI).

Announcing the event, chairman at Guwahati Round Table 235, Parveen Goyal said, “driFTErs is an open-to-all fun-filled rally open to only 70 cars on first-come-first-serve basis. We are giving away mega cash prizes to the winners. Also, exclusive cash prizes will be awarded in the category of women participants. All funds raised through this event will be used to make classrooms at Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Dadara.”

Guwahati Round Table 235, with its present 20 members, adopted the Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan school in Dadara for development in February last year. The planned school building, having a total construction area of 10,500 sq. ft., will be constructed in four stages with an expected outlay of Rs 80 lakhs. The first phase of the said school was inaugurated by Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 7, 2016. The second phase of the project was inaugurated on January 8, 2017, by Kamrup (rural) district magistrate Vinod Seshan. The driFTErs car rally will help fund the development of the third phase of construction of the school.

The event is supported by Audi as the title sponsors besides Amrit Cement, Intech and others as sponsors. Guwahati-based PR and reputation management consultancy Life’s Purple is supporting the event.

Chairman of Audi Guwahati and Green Valley Group, Pulak Goswami said, “We are proud to be associated with ‘driFTErs car rally’ organized by Guwahati Round Table Chapter for the noble cause of raising funds to build the school. As children are the future of the society, education is important and we acknowledge this noble cause of education for the underprivileged students.”

Dipanjon Konwar, president at NEMA said that “NEMA is privileged to offer its technical expertise in conducting Drifters – TSD Car Rally by Round Table India. We are happy to be associated with this event which will raise funds for school building.”

Earlier, the Table organized charity events ‘Raju, Raja, Ram aur Main’ by Sharman Joshi in 2015 and ‘The Funny Rascals’ in 2016 to raise funds for the development of the said school.
