The Assam Apex Cooperative Fish Marketing and Processing Federation Limited (FISHFED) started selling a wide variety of fish through its newly launched website fishfedassam.org for consumers in Guwahati.

The pilot online purchase facility is currently available for customers residing under eight pin codes: 781001,781003,781005,781006,781022,781028,781032,781038 in Guwahati. A statement by FISHFED managing director Ghana Pegu said that the pilot project is available from 10 am to 4 pm on all working days. “If successful, the facility will be expanded to greater Guwahati,” the statement said.

Besides a variety of local fish, customers can also place orders for sea fish, salmon, octopus, crab, baby shark, tuna, sardine, mackerel etc. through the website. Various payment modes like credit and debit cards, online banking, cash on delivery and PoS machines are available.

“For bulk (above 10 kgs) orders, like those for marriages and other events, the orders will have to be placed in advance and accordingly FISHFED will deliver across greater Guwahati,” the statement further said.

“The fish, which can be sliced according to requirement of the customers, will be delivered in ice boxes. A customer will have to order a minimum of 1 kg of local fish or 2 kg of imported fish or half a kg of sea fish at a time,” fishery extension officer Arupjyoti Patgiri informed through a press release.
