“Indigenous communities all over the world are facing multi dimensional intimidation and grossly deprived of participation in local, national and international processes that directly or indirectly affect their communities. Their economy, identity and cultural and spiritual values are closely linked to biological diversity and natural ecosystems. However securing their basic human rights, their rights to their lands and their access to the natural resources are increasingly affected by external factors,” the communiqué further added highlighting the grievances of the indigenous communities.
