Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the present state government has accorded top most priority to recognize the rural sporting talents and give them adequate exposure for their developments.

Inaugurating the final match of the inter-gaon panchayat football tournament at Dimou on Saturday, chief minister Sonowal said that infrastructural development of the play grounds, giving suitable training to the potential players and giving them adequate exposure are some of the objectives with which state government is working to bring about overall development of sports in the state.

Sonowal also said that to help the sports persons at the rural areas, state government has taken decision for the upgradation of 500 play grounds at every gaon panchayat. He also said that to help the players at the rural areas and to help them to become competent at every level, state government has taken steps for hosting international events in football, cricket and boxing in the state.

To provide all possible facilities to the players, Assam government is working sincerely so that players can perform even at the international level. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet programme of Khelo India, state government is also undertaking a slew of measures for the promotion of sports in Assam.

He aso announced Rs 15 lakh for the development of Rangchai rural play ground.
