A one-day training programme for referral judges was organized by the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee in collaboration with High Court Mediation Committee and the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority at the Meghalaya high court, Shillong on May 26.
The day-long training programme saw attendance of various judicial officers with mediators of the Gauhati High Court, Jahnabi Baruah and Baharun Saikia, as resource persons at the programme.
The programme saw deliberations on various facets of the mediation process as also, procedural aspects of referral cases for mediation of which includes topics like relevance of mediation in the justice delivery system, stages of mediation and benefits of mediation, motivating and preparing parties, role after conclusion of mediation, among others.
