One person was killed and another was injured when they were working in a plantation area under Wokha district of Nagaland when they were hit by lightning.
Official sources said that the incident occurred around 2:00 pm on July 1 at a rubber plantation in Pyangsa village under Lotsu EAC circle.
According to the sources, the victims were the labourers at the rubber plantation. The deceased victim was identified as Sengbrath D Momin, who was said to have died on the spot. The injured victim, said to be the brother of the deceased, was taken to Wokha district hospital in a serious condition.
After a continuous heatwave, several areas in the Northeast are experiencing rain and thundershowers. But, increased levels of humidity has made the weather uncomfortable, especially in the urban areas.
