Flight and railway services have been severely affected in Assam as well as other parts of Northeast India due to anti-CAB protests in the region, especially in Assam.

An Airports Authority of India, North East Region headquarter, release said in Guwahati that a number of airlines have cancelled their flights to Guwahati and a few other airports of the region.

Bhutan Airlines has cancelled its Guwahati-bound flight from Singapore flight on December 12, and the flight will directly fly to Paro.

Vistara Airlines has cancelled all its flights bound to Northeast for December 12.

Further, SpiceJet has cancelled four and Indigo has cancelled three flights from Guwahati airport. Indigo is operating its Kolkata-Dibrugarh-Kolkata flight to clear stranded passengers, though its Guwahati-Imphal flight has been cancelled.

In Agartala, one Guwahati-bound flight has been cancelled, while rest all operations at the airport were normal.

All operations at Shillong airport were normal and special flights are being arranged for Guwahati.

In Dimapur, Lilabari, Jorhat and Silchar airports, operations were normal and stranded passengers were being given food and all necessary requirements.

Meanwhile, train movement continued to be affected for the third consecutive day on December 12.

All short distance passenger trains in Northeast states have been cancelled for December 12 and 13, depending on the situation, a Northeast Frontier Railway source informed.

The long distance mail/express passenger trains to and from Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Silchar and Agartala have been short terminated and originated to and from Guwahati and Kamakhya railway stations for December12-13.

Train movement between Guwahati and Dibrugarh had been suspended on December 11.

Assam has been in the grip of protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, (CAB), with indefinite curfew in Guwahati and Dibrugarh, Army called in at multiple towns of the state and internet services suspended.
