Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 9 informed that a COVID-19 patient from Hailakandi is in critical condition and has been moved to the intensive care unit at the Silchar Medical College Hospital.
Sarma, through a tweet on April 9, informed that the condition of Patient 28, who was declared COVID-19 positive on April 7, is “alarming”. “Alert – The condition of the 28th case (from Hailakandi) of COVID-19 from Assam is alarming, though his other parameters are stable his oxygen saturation is decreasing. Shifting to ICU of SMCH for better monitoring,” he tweeted.
The patient had a travel history to Saudi Arabia.

So far, Assam has reported 28 positive cases and this is the first case where the condition of a patient has been stated as critical.
