Meghalaya government on April 3 began contract tracing of those people, who came in contact with a Guwahati-based businessman, who has tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati, a government official said on April 3.

The businessman, a resident at a posh apartment on Zoo Road in Guwahati, visited Shillong on March 25 after he returned from Delhi on February 29.

“He (businessman) had met one of his friend and held discussion for more than an hour,” sources said.

When contacted, Chief Secretary MS Rao said, “We are investigating every case thoroughly.”

State health department officials said that they are already on the job to contact-tracing who the patient had met during his visit to Shillong from Guwahati.

Assam has recorded a total of 26 COVID-19 positive cases.

So far, 66 samples carried out for COVID-19 tests in Meghalaya have all yielded negative results and over 7,000 persons are on self quarantine.
