Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on April 28 inaugurated 10 ambulances acquired by the state government for various hospitals of the state at the Dimapur District Hospital.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Rio also met medical personnel at the District Hospital and inspected the preparedness for COVID-19 at the hospital. All the district hospitals in the state have also been advised to continue delivery of select services such as OPD and other day-care services till such time COVID-19 related patients are admitted in the hospital, provided that, adequate barriers are installed to prevent intermingling of patients and to avoid overcrowding.

In connection with the Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) partnering with the Department of Health & Family Welfare for providing OPD service in the districts, the healthcare services has also been started in various districts and Impur Christian Hospital besides Kohima and Dimapur. The OPD service will be available from Monday to Friday, depending on the availability of volunteers, similar arrangements will be expanded to other locations and districts.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Principal Secretary for Home Abhijit Sinha informed that till date a total of 639 suspected COVID-19 samples have been sent for testing from the state, including 10 samples that have been sent on April 28. The results of 620 samples have been received and all are negative. Results for 19 samples are awaited, an official release said.
