State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 22 said that exclusive testing for COVID-19 for journalists will be conducted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on April 25.

“Any journalist who apprehends to have contracted the virus can come forward for this free testing,” he added.

Several journalists in the country, including at Mumbai and Chennai, have been detected with COVID-19 after apparently coming into contact with the virus during official assignments.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also issued an advisory on April 22, urging journalists to exercise precautions and asked managements of media houses to take necessary care of their field staff as well as office staff.
