Former office in-charge of Harangajao police station in Dima Hasao district of Assam, Anshuman Rajkumar, was placed under suspension on Sunday for allegedly not receiving an FIR regarding ex-militant leader Santosh Hojai going missing last month, whose body was later recovered.

Superintendent of Police of Dima Hasao, Jayant Sing, placed Rajkumar under suspension for not receiving the FIR of wife of late Hojai in time.

Hojai, an established businessman of Harangajao and a former militant, was kidnapped amid nationwide lockdown on the evening of April 24 by some unidentified gunmen from his residence.

His wife had approached then OC of Harangajao police station Rajkumar to lodge an FIR regarding the kidnapping of her husband but Rajkumar had reportedly denied to receive the FIR, saying that Hojai would return next day.

But later Hojai’s body was recovered near Lailing by the side of national highway on April 30.

Meanwhile, the Halali Progressive Welfare Society, Haflong, an organisation of former Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) militants, in an emergent meeting in Haflong resolved for a democratic agitation demanding CBI enquiry into Hojai’s killing and also for the implementation of Memorandum of Settlement between government of India, government of Assam and DHD.

The meeting was presided over by Dilip Nunisa, President, HPWS, wherein more that 100 ex-cadres of DHD were present.

Later, a memorandum was submitted to Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, with a prayer for immediate arrest of accused.

The memorandum maintained that the former DHD lost its two cadres, Rajesh Naiding in 2014 and Santosh Hojai last month.
